What we offer:

Root Pursuit offers a revolutionary way to sell genealogical services. Instead of quoting a large upfront fee like some big box stores, we ramp it down and start small. Genealogy is a winding journey of twists and turns and dead ends, however, Root Pursuit has found a way to streamline the process to give you a more succinct idea of what you are purchasing.

Our main service is the Family History Group Sheet service. This is a flat-rate service and offers the straightforward research of Root Pursuit’s custom Family Group Sheet (Extended). This Family Group sheet is similar to industry-standard group sheets but has two additional items: The Census/Resident Form and the Research Log. We will research one couple and all of their children. This research will encompass all searchable vital facts such as Birth, Marriage, and Death. This will include the parents of the mother and father listed on the family group sheet. In the Census/Resident form, we will find all known residences for all members of the family group. Also included is a research log – this will tell you exactly what Kelly researched and the results.

Why we love this method!

This pay as you go method is perfect for genealogy. You only purchase one chunk of research at a time and can stop at any time. Above we indicated that we will research the parents of the father and mother listed on the Family Group Sheet. As we find out those parents, you are able to purchase another family group sheet service. If for some reason the parental information can’t be found for the mother or father, then we know that it doesn’t make sense for you to purchase additional services for those people at this time. This rarely happens in early generations, but as we get back into the 1700s and 1600s, those dead ends become more frequent. Genealogy is full of dead ends, so while some genealogy lines go back 20 generations, some lines can be difficult when an individual was adopted, an orphan, or just left their previous life and changed their name. With the service provided above, you aren’t paying for future lines that can’t be found.

Once you have purchased, you will get an email notification with some instructions. This will list the information that we will need from you to get started. The name of one ancestor (first and last), their approximate birth date and approximate birthplace. After you have responded, we will work out a time to share a phone call and discuss the process and expectations. The ancestor should have been born prior to 1940 and we want you to know that respect all laws in regards to privacy in our research, especially for the living.
